Fire Cupping With Saffron And Sage

Hey yall! So if you made it to the blog, you must have some interest in fire cupping! And let me tell you, it is a MUST HAVE experience to add to your bucket list. Here's why!

When I had the opportunity to get fire cupping, I was so nervous. I had all these questions running through my head.. "Is my skin going to burn?", "Am I going to feel the fire and be in pain?", or even "How long is my skin going to be bruised for?" Oh and lastly, "Why would anyone on earth want to put fire to their skin as a source of calmness and relaxation?!" These are only a few questions I had racing through my head, but Saffron and Sage did an amazing job by explaining the benefits of. this therapy and why I could not pass on on this experience!

So let's get into it! What is Fire Cupping?

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. (Definition from WebMD.com)

In addition, fire cupping is really good to release the toxins in your body and help cleanse your skin from the inside out. For me, that was my goal with getting this done. I also had tension in my lower back that seemed to not go away. So this was perfect for me and the things I was experiencing with my body that I needed help getting rid of.

Now, my experience..

You start off with removing your clothes from waist down and make sure your hair is away from your neck as if you would do for a massage. With everything already prepped, they use a flammable substance such as alcohol, herbs, or paper in a cup and set it on fire. As the fire goes out, they put the cup upside down on your skin. I felt the heat on my skin, but it did not burn or hurt at all. As the fire went out, you begin to feel more pressure. Mind you, everyones body and pain tolerance is different. For me, it did not hurt at all, as mentioned, just felt a little pressure once the fire went out. After placing the cups in all the areas you feel the most tension and leaving them on for about 10-15 mins, the cups are removed, they massaged the area, wipe your back and thats it!

The Aftermath

After the cupping, I went home and looked at my back. I had a little bruising but it wasn't too bad and went away within a couple days. The pain in lower back had went away as well and I honestly just felt lighter. It was definitely worth it because I had tried stretching my lower back, getting back massages and more to get rid of the pain and nothing worked. But fire cupping was so unique and hit areas that the others couldn't, I felt I got what I needed to help relive the pain.
